Erika Chan is a California Credentialed teacher with 15 years of classroom experience. Her dream to help children, and her vision of providing all students with quality education, led to the creation of House of Chan Tutoring.

STUDY SKILLS

House of Chan offers a comprehensive study skills tutoring plan to help your child, who may be struggling with basic studying techniques. We will help your student plan for homework and class projects: allowing them to be better organized. Their confidence will bloom as their techniques are put into action. We teach students how to “study smarter, not harder”. We individualize this plan directly to your student and their skills.

READING

Our House of Chan Tutors are professionally trained and skilled at delivering reading skills such as: Reading Comprehension

MATH

Math tutoring is one of our specialties! House of Chan prides itself on the quality and education of our tutoring partners. We offer:

  • High School and AP Math.

  • The diverse range of math subjects includes Algebra, Geometry, Calculus, and Trigonometry. House of Chan also offers basic Math for remedial or continuing support as students grow in their Math skills.

PRE K

House of Chan offers a complete Pre K readiness program. Let us help prepare your child for their first big day. We know every child is unique and has strengths that we can highlight, allowing their self esteem to grow. We offer a positive and uplifting learning environment and look forward to working with your student!

WRITING

    Welcome to the House of Chan, a “Tiny Classroom!” Erika Chan is a California credentialed teacher with 14 years of classroom experience. She currently teaches 6th Grade at Mountain View Elementary School in Visalia.

    Jake Bettencourt is a high honors student-tutor available for support in high-level maths through AP Calculus , as well as AP Chemistry.

    Jillian Fifield received 5's on the AP Calculus AB, Environmental Science, and English Language tests. She excels in Math 1, 2, and 3 and grade level Chemistry and Biology.

    Flyn Olson is our AP Chemistry tutor who also excels in all grade level math courses.

  • Pre-assessment

    Students are pre-assessed in English Languange Arts (ELA) and Math, and an individualized learning plan is discussed and developed. We choose a content standard(s) and get to work!

  • Learning Cycle

    Next, baseline data is used to drive student support or acceleration within the specific content standards. Learning cycles are 4-6 weeks, and optional work is provided for at-home practice.

  • post-assessment

    At the end of the learning cycle, students are given a post-assessment to demonstrate their growth and mastery of the content. House of Chan Tutoring loves to celebrate students who meet their learning goals!
